Now that it's finally summer, I took a quick jaunt to the beach with my three kids. I had just finished readjusting my pretied bandana and was helping my three-year-old dig up her small neon-green Croc from the sand when I almost FLIPPED OUT!   About three feet away from me stood another religious lady at the beach in – I kid you not – a Shaitel. Yes! She apparently put on her fine, custom, $3,500 + wig to go to the beach?! Oxidize much?!   “You have got to be kidding me!” was my first reaction.   Then my not highly conditioned enough reflex of “different strokes for different folks” kicked in. I glanced again at the lady, pulled the two ends of my kerchief out of habit, glanced at the wig wearing lady again, and then stared out to sea, deliberately keeping my “new friend” and her Shaitel out of sight…. trying to behave…   Someone tapped me and I jumped! “Sorry!” I heard a timid voice break through my grumping. “I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to know where you got that pre-tied. Sorry!”   I lifted me kerchief-clad head and stared at – you guessed it – my wig clad “neighbor,” I restructured my grimace into a lopsided grin, clumsily got to my feet and stuttered, “Ooohhh! T- Th- That's okay! It-it-it's no pro-prob-problem. Reeeaally!   I quickly studied her appearance and came to three conclusions: She cared how she dressed, she knew how to dress, and she always looked great – from the sole of her shoe to the top of her hat – well shaitel!   “So, anyway, where did you get that pre-tied?” she prompted.   “I go to www.MillineryShop.net. See, I would never even think of going to the beach in a Shaitel, even if it was a cheaper one. It would get completely killed, besides that it's so uncomfortable… and.. oh! Yeah! We talked for a few minutes more and then she turned and walked away, her wig winking in the sunlight. It's funny! Now it looked a drop more blondish, before I had been positive it was brown. “I guess my imaginations running wild again,” I mused as I reached up to pull the two ends of my pretied again… out of habit.  

Can you believe it?! School is almost out and summer is here. This crazy winter is behind us and the fun is about to begin. As a very active person I try to do all kinds of cool things in the summer and it brings to mind a great topic.   How do you cover your hair?   Beach in a shaitel? I dont think so – at least not me! Ever lose your wig – or almost in hershey park. Been there. Done that. Not fun. so here are my top recomendations, feel free to chime in and give me yours:)     This is a great one with my tan clothing, dress it up dress it down it's all good.    

Hair is good on heads… not so good in food!   If you think you've always got your hair covered, take this survey:   How often do you, your husband, or one of your kids find hair in their food? Or better yet, a guest??!! Hmm… appetizing!   If you can answer less than once a month (of the hairs you know about), you're better off than me and better off than most. Congratulations! But still…   You love entertaining and finally got your Great Aunt Judy over with Uncle Marv, kids and new grandchild – an obvious first dressed in pressed corduroys, a sky blue polo, with a backwards Yankee cap forcing down a heedful of curls, framing a cherubic face.   Your garlic bread went over great – no less than six compliments scored. The salmon entree was “plain luscious” as cousin Leah put it and you were just ladling out the cream of potato soup, thinking about the condiment presentation you had put together.   Twelve soup bowls safely to the table, and you can relax. You lift your spoon, sniff the contents of the bowl appreciatively and open your mouth in anticipation… whoa! What's that long, thin, brown thing overlapping the edges of the spoon? It's certainly not a potato! You furtively glance around, hoping no one noticed what just happened, when you notice Uncle Marv inspecting something on his spoon… EMBARRASSING!   And that's the facts! You can't even point fingers to your teenaged daughter ‘cuz you got none, or to your older sons, ‘cuz their hair is too short.   Again I ask – think you got your hair covered? LICE! If my daughter brings home just one more note from the CDC I will freak! Since winter break we have been receiving these notes home explaining what Pediculus humanus capitis -AKA- headlice is and how to get rid of them. The teachers have called all the parents asking to put the girls hair in braids or buns. That's a great first step but it leaves many still exposed from those itchy jumpy insects.   I have sent my daughter to school in these awesome kids pre-tied. She feels totally hip and I feel totally safe. Just typing this article has me itching!
