To all our new and devoted customers- I would like to go over and  explain some of our products in the section called "hats and head coverings"   We will be understanding what the differences is -between the Tichel kerchief and Oversized pretieds. These two categories can be found in the shop by department - hats and head coverings  Tichel - Kerchief   What is a Tichel? Sometimes called a Kerchief as well.    A Tichel is a square scarf that  we  fold and make into a head scaf. I would say that your Bubby -most likely wore this style head covering in Europe, in the Shtetl. All married Jewish ladies covered their hair out of modesty and a sign that she is married. Fabric and texture have come a long way  in the Tichel world. We no longer tie the kerchief under our chin in the front. The Tichel is pretied with our soft elastic in the back. We offer sizes on the elastic so there is no need to tie. Another novelty is the Strip grip that is built into the front inner side to help keep your head wear from sliding around   Oversized pretieds   Now lets talk about the Oversized pretieds. This section  is different because its not a square scarf that we work with. We buy fabric on a roll and we cut the fabric into  headwear. The end results is pretty similar to the Tichel kerchief.  This too has a built in elastic for a pretied look. Some woman like the fabric feel and texture  better then a Tichel or vis versa. The strip grip  in also built into the Oversized pretieds     Both itmes - Tichel kerchief and the oversized pretied have options to build in a strip grip -This edge inner keeps your headwear from slipping and sliding.   What is a Strip Grip? A strip grip is a 3/4”-1"  piece of velvet that is sewn into the band of head covering of your choice. It is designed to eliminate the slipping and sliding that usually occurs. That’s why we call it the SLIP GRIP! It is smooth, comfortable and not sweaty. WHAT THE HECK IS AN ANGLE SWEATER?!     Well who wears pullover sweaters?  It seems to me that the feminine world of fashion wears sweaters without zippers, buttons or snaps. I find that when I'm getting dressed up, to go out - I apply my make-up first, while wearing a pretied bandanna.  Then when I'm all dolled up and ready to leave, I can easily put on my ANGLE SWEATER.  The angle seater goes over my pretied bandana or any head covering (Sombrero excluded!). I can pop on my funky hat or wig (with a slip not - wig grip underneath of course) as a head covering and I am good to go.   Below is an Angle sweater that has a bit of a cowl neck for easy on and off. This knit sweater is sometimes called a PONCHO. It is warm, cozy and dressy too. I love how the sweater just drapes beautifully on a dramatic angle with a point worn in the front.  My favorite is the most practical color- LOL yes, BLACK. The most forgiving color in a girls closet.  

OVERSIZED PRE-TIED HEADWEAR   Are you looking for comfort in your headwear collection? Ahhh....there is nothing like comfort for me. I love the feeling of lightweight, non constricting headcoverings. When I went shopping for this seasons headwear I fell in love with this choice fabric. The fabric has a touch of shimmer ( little touch of glam) and the fabric itself is non slippery and washes amazing. The cut of this pattern (style) is a large oversized pattern. Oversized Pre-Tied Metallic fabric comes in 3 great colors:   Black / Turquoise Black / Gold Black / Silver   ANOTHER thing I like about this pattern is that when you slip on the Pre-tied you can tie the tails to your comfort with ease. Now that it's finally summer, I took a quick jaunt to the beach with my three kids. I had just finished readjusting my pretied bandana and was helping my three-year-old dig up her small neon-green Croc from the sand when I almost FLIPPED OUT!   About three feet away from me stood another religious lady at the beach in – I kid you not – a Shaitel. Yes! She apparently put on her fine, custom, $3,500 + wig to go to the beach?! Oxidize much?!   “You have got to be kidding me!” was my first reaction.   Then my not highly conditioned enough reflex of “different strokes for different folks” kicked in. I glanced again at the lady, pulled the two ends of my kerchief out of habit, glanced at the wig wearing lady again, and then stared out to sea, deliberately keeping my “new friend” and her Shaitel out of sight…. trying to behave…   Someone tapped me and I jumped! “Sorry!” I heard a timid voice break through my grumping. “I didn't mean to scare you. I just wanted to know where you got that pre-tied. Sorry!”   I lifted me kerchief-clad head and stared at – you guessed it – my wig clad “neighbor,” I restructured my grimace into a lopsided grin, clumsily got to my feet and stuttered, “Ooohhh! T- Th- That's okay! It-it-it's no pro-prob-problem. Reeeaally!   I quickly studied her appearance and came to three conclusions: She cared how she dressed, she knew how to dress, and she always looked great – from the sole of her shoe to the top of her hat – well shaitel!   “So, anyway, where did you get that pre-tied?” she prompted.   “I go to www.MillineryShop.net. See, I would never even think of going to the beach in a Shaitel, even if it was a cheaper one. It would get completely killed, besides that it's so uncomfortable… and.. oh! Yeah! Now it looked a drop more blondish, before I had been positive it was brown. “I guess my imaginations running wild again,” I mused as I reached up to pull the two ends of my pretied again… out of habit.

LICE! If my daughter brings home just one more note from the CDC I will freak! Since winter break we have been receiving these notes home explaining what Pediculus humanus capitis -AKA- headlice is and how to get rid of them. The teachers have called all the parents asking to put the girls hair in braids or buns. That's a great first step but it leaves many still exposed from those itchy jumpy insects.   I have sent my daughter to school in these awesome kids pre-tied. She feels totally hip and I feel totally safe. Just typing this article has me itching! I am so glad I don't have to deal with the real deal:)    Ladies keep in mind the article we posted in the summer about lice in head coverings.
